AUTOMATA-making Workshops

I sometimes travel to schools or groups for an 'automata-making' workshop. Preferably one lasting several days, so that we can turn it into a project that culminates in a proud exhibition.

This type of workshop works for primary, secondary, and higher education. Depending on the group size, age, and available time, I put together a customized program. We prefer to experiment with easy-to-work-with, readily available materials such as cardboard, cork, and wire. I have developed handy tools to enable precise and results-oriented work. In a relatively limited time, we create a beautiful, 'living' result. Through play, we learn about mechanics, power transmission, structural stability, ... but also about creative and solution-oriented thinking.

I can also always work with wood during the workshops, but that is more labor-intensive, so it takes more time and requires sufficiently solid technical facilities. In any case, I have already given workshops on 'carving figures from wood', whether or not in combination with mechanical movements.

The possibilities are endless. It is a matter of discussion.

Moreover, the idea of organizing a longer workshop for adults has been simmering for a while. In any case, I sometimes get asked about it. Who knows... One of these...

To illustrate, here are some results, atmospheric images, and a 'report' on past workshops.
