MUSEUM-ON-TOUR

Automata are only enjoyable when you can make them move. When you, as part of the audience, get to turn the handle and thus bring those mechanical storytelling machines to life. You hear them creak, squeak, and grind. Delightful! But automata are also ' fragile ,' no matter how solidly they may be built: they remain purely mechanical, wooden transmissions that—if you turn in the wrong direction, for example—could jam due to the mechanics. That fragility is, incidentally, also what makes them so beautiful, so poetic, so uh... fragile.

All my installations (including the 'Automata Carrousel' and 'King & Queen of Belgian Waffles') are designed and built in such a way that you, as the public, can safely bring the automata to life. The same applies to these exhibition display cases . They are fully mechanical, so they do not require electricity. Nevertheless, they incorporate an ingenious 'safety mechanism' ensuring that the public can never turn in the wrong direction. Normally, turning too fast or forcing anything is also impossible.

If I do say so myself, a particularly fine and smart design. They can be set up quite easily at any location – indoors as well as outdoors. We can make the exhibition S, M, L, XL, or XXL, depending on the number of display cases. Where possible, I can also display design sketches (but a hanging system is required for that).

For outdoor setups, I have a beautiful, quick-to-assemble tent that serves as a temporary automata workshop.

The possibilities are endless. Contact us if you would like to organize an exhibition yourself.
