Radio KAiET! - podcast with stories by Geert Hautekiet

For years, I wrote and performed many stories, devised (mechanically) moving sets for them, and toured with them through Flanders and the Netherlands (and once in New York) . I won a prize with them and made the front page of The New York Times. At times, I am still approached about 'that story in that fountain,' or the one under that castle, or the one about those racers, and why there hasn't been a third part to that trilogy yet...

It is true: you are reading these sentences in the past tense. Setting up, writing, developing, rehearsing, and refining a storytelling production takes an enormous amount of time, money, and energy. In itself, that is not so bad, but the theater and festival world is changing. Tours are getting smaller. Put the basics in one sentence, and you will understand me.

But...

Those stories are definitely there, and when I reread them they come completely to life again; I catch myself smiling here and there, and my zest glows from within. It would be a shame to let them gather dust... So, here we go! Starting in January 2027, I’m pulling a big POT and a CUPBOARD full of stories out of the basement, sorting out the liveliest ones, writing new ones, and bringing them here in a brand-new PODCAST. Radio KAiET! Enjoy!
