Statue of Liberty
Type of project
automaton (made of recycled wood and brass)
Date
2024
Location
Borgerhout, Antwerp
The largest – and certainly tallest – automaton I have made to date: like a true Statue of Liberty, it rises slenderly into the air, with the absolute highlight – at the top – being a 'completely free' woman. She floats up and down completely freely as if diving into a trampoline and shooting upwards once again. Below her, various humble (male) figures ensure that she can feel so free.
